Frequently Asked Questions

  • ACES is the small high school in the Mukilteo School District.   We have two programs here at ACES.  We have the ALE online program for students that need extra credits to graduate and choose to work virtually.   We also have ACES Big Picture transfer school which offers a smaller setting than a larger, traditional high school. Some students thrive in smaller classes and with more adult engagement.  Students who attend Big Picture focus on projects that they design, and that have meaning to them. Our program is limited to 110 students at this time and we are proud of our small group supports and customized learning plans.

  • The diploma and transcript do not reference ACES ALE as an alternative school.  In fact, there is no need. By design, we are more a small high school than an alternative school.  ACES Big Picture is a mastery based learning environment that does not produce a traditional transcript but rather show competency in various areas of learning.

  • ACES ALE only requires that you come in person for an hour or two per week at a time of your choice.  The balance of the program is 25-30 hours which may be done virtually. There is no class schedule but rather sign up times. It is a very safe environment for all who attend.

ACES Big Picture is a very peaceful school where students become friends, get along and support one another.  We maintain an extremely positive school environment where students literally thrive.

  • The district provides transportation to/from ACES.  Students transfer onto a bus at Mariner or Kamiak  which will bring them to ACES before school.  Afternoon transportation is a bit different:  Students will walk home if they live within 1.5 miles of ACES High School.  Kamiak and Mariner follow this same procedure.
